TechTV Revisited

I’m not sure how many people remember TechTV or how many even knew about it. TechTV was my escape into geek world when nothing else was on. I grew to like the shows and all the geeky tech talk. I guess the ratings and profits were pretty low since not many people care about the details of how a PC worked or what’s the latest hot gadget. Cable and satellite providers didn’t seem interested eiter since the station cause was passed around more then a dirty dollar bill.

The content really changed after the last buyout. The shows sucked and everything was about video games. I don’t mind watching shows about video games but not all the time.

Some of the host from the old TechTV started creating their own shows and posted them online for free. The one I liked the most was thebroken. They created about 3 episodes then it seemed to die out. Guess work got in the way.

I would check out Kevin Rose’s (TechTV host from The ScreenSavers) blog every now and then to see whats up. It seemed like he wasn’t happy with the new setup @ G4TV (formally TechTV). G4TV canceled ‘The ScreenSavers’ and put him on this wack show. After a couple months he out out of his contract with the network and pursued creating a real tech show full time.

The new show is called Systm. Good to see these guys back at it but I wasn’t too happy with the first episode. The second show was a bit better. I’d like to see these guys really take this show and thebroken the new levels. Check them out and let me know what you think.
